Groovy Jacket

I have had this project from Jayda-In-Stitches in mind for a while and I finally got around to making it.

This video shows how to make a Groovy Poncho, but I did modify it to make it a jacket.

This jacket is constructed making two halves based on how tall you want the jacket and the widest measurement on the body. The video will explain how to do this. If I remember right, it is the tall measurement times 2 and wide measurement is divided by 4.  As I started making this I realized I can make this jacket in any stitch I want (within reason). I also made a mistake and ended up with two not quite equal parts. So I had to fudge a little in the final construction. I also wanted it open in the front, so I just sewed up the back half. I did not finish watching the video to make the sleeves, I had just figured out where I wanted the sleeves, again a little challenging because my two halves where not quite equal.

I finished off by added three rows of single crochet along the jacket opening. The video is sponsored by Lion Brand, so the jacket in the video uses 2 strands of Mandala Yarn (This is an affiliate link. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. It helps me out, Thank You)I used Red Heart and a thin strand of pink yarn I had picked up from Amazon.

Overall, I like how this turned out and I would make this again.

  8. Sorry for the delay in commenting - I had to make an emergency visit to Ohio to visit my brother in the hospital.

The jacket looks quite versatile. And I am amazed that you can just wing it! I am a by the book kinda gal, so this kind of improvisation really impresses me! Thanks for linking to Mosaic Monday!
