Ripple Sock II

Edit April 3, 2012: I updated this pattern with more photos, see Scribd Document at the bottom of the post.

Here is a pattern for another ripple sock. I used Knit Picks Felici Sport yarn and a size e hook.

Start at the leg.

Chain 38
Row 1: sc in the 2nd chain from hook, sc in the next 4, [3 sc in the next stitch, sc in the next 5 stitches, skip 2 stitches, sc in the next 5 stitches] aroun, turn

Note: Work in the back loops for the leg.
Row 2: ch 1, sc decrease in next 2 sc, sc in the next 4 stitches,[3 sc in the next stitch, sc in the next 5 stitches, skip 2 stitches, sc in the next 5 stitches] around, end with 3 sc in the next stitch, sc in the next 4 stitches, sc decrease over the last 2 sc. Turn.

Repeat row 2 until 28 rows are completed.

For the heel:

turn work on its side, work 20 sc over 14 rows, turn
ch 1, sc in the next 20 sc, turn. Repeat this row until 10 rows are completed

Heel turn:

ch1, sc in the next 11 sc, sc 2tog, sc,turn
ch1, sc in the next 4, sc 2 tog, sc, turn
ch1, sc until 1 before end of row, sc 3tog over next sc, into the side of the row, and the next sc, sc in the next sc. repeat this row until all 20 sc are worked.

For the foot:

Make 7 chevrons around the foot:

sc in the next 3 stitches [ 3 sc in a stitch, sc in the next 6 stitches] repeat 6 times end with 3 sc in a stitch and sc in the next 3 stitches.

Note: the rows are worked continuously, so mark the beginning of the row.

Rows 1-5: skip the next sc * sc in the next 3 sc, 3 sc in the next sc, sc in the next 3 sc, skip 2 sc* repeat this around, at the end of round skip one sc.

Row 6: skip the next sc *sc 2 tog, sc in the next sc, 3 sc in next stitch, sc in next stitch, 2 sc tog, skip 2 sc,* repeat around, skipping 1 sc at the end of the round.

Row 7: skip next sc * sc in the next 2 sc, 3 sc in the next sc, sc in the next 2 sc, skip 2 sc* repeat this around, at the end of round skip one sc. Repeat this row until about 1 1/2 inches short of desired foot length.

For the Toe:

Row 1: sc in the next 5 sc, sc 2tog, repeat around
Row 2: sc evenly around
Row 3: sc in the next 4 sc, sc 2 tog, repeat around
Row 4: sc evenly around
Row 5: sc in the next 3 sc, sc 2 tog, repeat around
Row 6: sc in the next 2 sc, sc 2 tog, repeat around
Row 7: sc in the next sc, sc 2 tog, repeat around
Row 8, sc 2 tog, around, fasten off

  4. I just finish the heel and am ready to move on to the foot but the instructions are unclear on how to do so. Do I finish off the heel with a SL etc and begin the foot else where, if so where does the first stc go?

  5. For the foot, you just proceed on, you are making 7 chevrons evenly around the foot.

  6. This is such a great pattern - thanks so much for sharing it! I attempted to make this following your pattern to a tee, but I am a size 10 foot, and these socks didn't fit me. Would it be possible to get some guidance on how to make these for a bigger foot? :)

  7. I made using a sport weight yarn, and it turned out big for me (size 8). it might work for a larger size.

  8. Do you remember how much yarn you used for this and what size it came out? This is my favorite looking sock I've found on ravelry, I was wondering how much yarn to buy if I were to make these for dress socks for the husband.

    1. It has been a while, but I used two skeins and it fits my feet about a woman's 8.
