Crocheted Thong Sock Pattern

Materials: Sock/fingerwieght yarn
B hook
Gauge: 8 rows and 8 sc = 1 inch * 34 stitches are for the leg, 3 stitches are for the heel and 45 stitches for the foot. You can adjust these numbers (except the heel) to fit your foot

Left foot: Chain 83
Row 1: sc in 2 chain and in each one across, ch1, turn (82 sc)
Row 2: sc in the back loops of the next 24 sc, sc in both loops of the next 58 sc, ch1, turn
Row 3: sc in both loops in next 58 sc, sc in the back loops of the next 24 sc, ch1, turn
Rows 4 – 8: Repeat row 2 and 3 ending with row 2
Row 9: sc in both loops of next 45, 2 sc in the next 3 sc, sc in next 10 sc, sc in the back loops of the next 24 sc, ch1, turn
Row 10: sc in the back loops of the next 24 sc, sc in both loops in the next 10, [2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in next sc] 3 times, sc in the next 45 sc, ch1, turn
Row 11: sc in the next 45, [2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in next 2 sc] 3 times, sc in both loops in the next 10, sc in the back loops of the next 24 sc, ch1, turn
Row 12: sc in the back loops of the next 24 sc, sc in both loops in the next 10, [2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in next 3 sc] 3 times, sc in the next 45 sc, ch1, turn
Row 13: sc in the next 70 sc, sc in the back loops of the next 24 sc, ch1, turn
Row 14: sc in the back loops of the next 24 sc, sc in the next 70, ch1, turn
Row 15-22: repeat rows 13 and 14
Row 23: sc in the next 45, [decrease 1 sc over next 2 sc, 1 sc in next 3 sc] 3 times, sc in both loops in the next 10, sc in the back loops of the next 24 sc, ch1, turn
Row 24: sc in the back loops of the next 24 sc, sc in both loops in the next 10, [decrease 1 sc over next 2 sc, 1 sc in next 2sc] 3 times, sc in the next 45 sc, ch1, turn
Row 25: sc in the next 45, [decrease 1 sc over next 2 sc, 1 sc in next sc] 3 times, sc in both loops in the next 10, sc in the back loops of the next 24 sc, ch1, turn
Row 26: sc in the back loops of the next 24 sc, sc in both loops in the next 10, [decrease 1 sc over next 2 sc] 3 times, sc in the next 45 sc, ch1, turn
Row 27-32: repeat rows 3 and 2, ending with ch 3 on row 32

Start basket weave pattern:
Row 1: Dc in second stitch, ch2, skip next 2 stitches, dc in next 2 stitches across, ch 3, turn
Row 2: Dc in second stitch, tr in skipped stitches from previous row behind the ch2, dc in next 2 stitches across, ch3 turn

Repeat Rows 1-2  six times more. Now turn the work where toe end is on the top. Work in 60 sc along the top The toes are worked continuously in rounds.

Toe:
Row 1: Join with sc to first sc, sc in next 11, ch 2, skip next 35 stiches, sc in remaining 13 sc
Row 2-5: sc evenly around toe (sc in each of the sc for row 2), mark the last stitch at the end of the 5th row Row 6: decrease 1 sc over next 2 sc, sc to two before marker, decrease 1 sc over next 2 sc, sc in marked stitch (move marker to this stitch and in every round)
Row 7: sc evenly around
Repeat row 6 and 7: two more times Repeat row 6 four times more, finish off

Remaining toes: Join with sc in first skipped sc next to the toe, sc in next 17 sc, mark this stitch, sc in remaining 17 sc and sc in the 2 ch from the toe (37 sc).
Row 1: sc to two before marker, decrease 1 sc over next 2 sc, sc in marker(move marker to this stitch and in every round) , decrease 1 sc over next 2 sc, sc in remaining sc.
Row 2: sc evenly around Repeat row 1 and 2 two more times Repeat row 1 eight times more, finish off.

Right Foot:
Repeat instructions for left foot until just before the toe, Larger toes: Join with sc in first sc, sc in next 16 sc, ch 2, skip 25 sc, sc in remaining 18 sc (37 sc). Mark the last sc made
Row 1: decrease 1 sc over next 2 sc, sc to two before the marker, and decrease 1 sc over next 2 sc, sc in marked sc (move marker to this stitch and in every round)
Row 2: sc evenly around Repeat first two rows two times more
Repeat first round eight times more finish off

Toe:
Join with sc in first skipped sc next to the larger toes, sc in next 12 sc, mark this stitch, sc in remaining 13 sc and sc in the 2 ch from the toe (27 sc).
Row 2-5: sc evenly around toe (move marked stitch in every round) Row 6: sc to two before marker, decrease 1 sc over next 2 sc, sc in marked stitch (move marker to this stitch and in every round) , decrease 1 sc over next 2 sc, sc in remaining sc. Row 7: sc evenly around
Repeat row 6 and 7 two more times Repeat row 6 four times more, finish off Finishing Sew up ends in toes and sew up along the seam of the sock.

  1. I love this idea...I can't wear the toe socks because I have a couple of toes on each foot that are webbed...but I could wear this!

  3. When starting the basket weave section after row 32 ate we still following the pattern of working in the back loops of 24?

  4. I cant decifer the abbreviations, and I just cant understand row 1. I just cant make sense of it?

  6. It has been a while since I have done this sock, but you should have an open seam along the side of the sock that will need to be sewn up.
