Two Needle Lace Socks

Edited Aug 15, 2010

Somehow with the original post all the content was missing.

The yarn to make these socks was Crystal Palace Maizy. Size 2 needles would be best for this pattern.

Cast on 31 stitches

Garter stitch for 4 rows

Repeat the top of foot pattern rows 1-12 until piece measures about 14 inches. Decrease one stitch at the end, working with 30 stitches from now on.

Pattern for top of foot:

Row 1: k1, *YO, k3, sl 1, k2tog, PSSO, K3, YO, k1*

Row 2 and 8: Purl

Row 3: p1 * k1, YO, k2, sl 1, k2tog, PSSO, k2, YO, k1, p1*

Row 4 and 6: k1, *p9,k1*

Row 5: p1, *k2, YO, k1, sl 1, k2tog, PSSO, k1, YO, k2, p1*

Row 7: p1, * k3, YO, sl 1, k2tog, PSSO, YO, k3, p1*

Rows 9-12: Knit

Form the toe using the short row pattern:

Short Row Pattern:

slip 1, K28, turn
slip 1, P 27, turn
slip 1, K 26, turn

slip 1, P 25, turn
Continue in this manner until you reach slip 1, P 13, turn
slip 1, K to stitch before a gap, K2tog, pick up a stitch before the next stitch (this stitch is on the right needle), turn
slip 1, P to stitch before a gap, P2tog, pick up a stitch before the next stitch (this stitch is on the right needle), turn
Continue in this manner until all the stitches are work.

Now working up the wrong side of the piece to form the sole of the sock,

Pattern for bottom of foot and back of leg:

Row 1: pick up a stitch from the side edge of the piece and knit together with first stitch, knit across.

Row 2: Pick up a stitch from the side edge and purl together with first stitch, purl across.

Repeat rows 1 and 2 until the sole measure about 1 ½ inches of the desired length of the sock.

Repeat the short row pattern for the heel.

Continue with rows 1 and 2 from the bottom of foot pattern along the back until about 3 inches from the top of the sock. Start the ribbed pattern:

Ribbed Pattern:

Row 1: pick up a stitch from the side edge of the piece and knit together with first stitch, P1 * K1, P1* across.

Repeat rows 1 until the back up to the top, bind off using an elastic bind off.

  1. Beautiful socks but my computer only shows picture, no other blog posting, no info. Are they your own pattern or from somewhere else? Is it a free pattern or for sale? I would love to find the pattern. No problem finding your other patterns. I found your site through a shared yahoo group. Congrats on being able to sell your knitting at the farmers market, I think that is great. Mary Alma
