Pie Dishcloths

Edit July 31, 2023:
I have a video tutorial on how to make it, the video includes an option to work from a circle in the middle.

I could not think of a better name for these round dishcloths, they have eight sections worked in them, like eight slices of pie. I made these using left of Red Heart Super Saver Yarn, so these would make better dust cloths than dishcloths.

I did write up a pattern for these dishcloths, you might notice that the stripping is different in a couple of them. The pink and green one and the blue and multi-colored one have strips that don't intersect as the rest of them do. The directions for these are going to be in parentheses.

So here is the pattern:

Using worsted weight yarn and a G hook:

Ch 16(19)

Working in back loops:

Row 1: Sc in 2 ch from hook, sc across, Ch 1 , turn

Row 2: Sc across, ch 1, turn (change color after every even row.)

Row 3: Sc in the next 12 (15), ch 1, turn

Row 4: Sc across, ch 1, turn

Row 5: Sc in next 9(12), ch 1, turn

Row 6: Sc across, ch 1, turn

Row 7: Sc in next 6(9), ch 1, turn

Row 8: Sc across, ch 1, turn

Row 9: Sc in next 3(6), ch 1, turn

Row 10: Sc across, ch 1, turn

Row 11: (for parenthesis) Sc in next 3, ch 1, turn

Row 12: (for parenthesis) Sc across, ch 1, turn

Row 11: (13): Working down the skipped sc’s from previous rows, Sc in the next 15 (18) sc’s

Row 12: (14): Sc across

Repeat Rows 3-12 (14) 6 more times. Repeat rows 3-11 (13) once more

For the out edge,3 sc for every 2 rows (or ridge)

Sew up the seam; this could be tricky because you have a straight edge on one side and “stairs” on the other side. You are sewing up the tops of the sc’s only.

  1. I seriously dig the dishcloth we got for Christmas; it's got a lot of texture, which I'm finding really useful for most my kitchen-cleaning needs. :D

    These are cute!

  4. Found this through the AllFreeCrochet newsletter ... very cool! I'm assuming we need to switch back and forth between the two colors at every row? Can't wait to try this!

  5. I was wondering the same thing as Jennifer and no one answered. I'm playing with the pattern right now and can confirm that for results just like in the previews, you need to change color every 2 rows. :)
