Basic Pumpkin Pattern

It is that time of year again, it is pumpkin season. It is not just for pies. You will find pumpkin spice anything.

I am also seeing them in my crochet groups. So it was time to make some.

I made these pumpkins with this yarn

I bought this at Amazon.  You can get about 40 tiny skeins (22 yards) for under $20. But I am going to tell you that I don't like the quality of this yarn and I won't buy it again.

For now I still have a lot of these like balls of yarn and going to make some pumpkins

I used a size B hook for this.

Chain 17

Slip stitch in second chain from hook, sc along remain chains until the last one, slip stitch in the last stitch.

Working in the back loops, chain 1, slip stitch in the first stitch, sc until the last stitch, slip stitch in the last stitch. Repeat this for about another 28 rows. If you are using these little balls of yarn, you should just have enough yarn in these balls for about 30 rows, maybe 32 rows.

Sew up the side seam.  Sew / cinch up the bottom of the pumpkin.

Start stuffing the pumpkin, With a contrasting color evenly put 20 sc along the top. You might want to make a few of sc2tog to start gathering the top and not have any gaps on top.

sc2tog along the top (10 sc)
sc even around
sc2tog around (5sc)
sc even around for 2-3 rows or until you have the desired length. Finish off.

  1. Well aren't they cute!
It's been a while since crampy fingers and arthritis have allowed me to crochet, but it provided many many hours of enjoyment for me.
