Merry Christmas!

Hope everyone else is a having a safe holiday season. It is my first Christmas with family over Zoom. For my mother and sister, it was the first time using Zoom. My mother, sister, brother, and I all have iPhones so we are use to FaceTime. My daughter recently had a baby boy so we wanted her in on the festivities. My mother and siblings live in a different state than I do, so it is not uncommon to not meet up on Christmas. However my husband and I usually do have a Christmas party with our kids and my brother-in-law and his family and friends for over the past 20 years. This is the first time in a long time that we have not gotten together.

Thanks COVID.

However, I do want to keep things positive and focus on the things I have done to celebrate the holiday spirit.

Did a lot of baking this week. I made fruit cake for the first time. Also made divinity for the first time. I also made flourless peanut butter cookies, peanut clusters, and fudge.

I also had done a few Christmas related projects this week. I put together this stocking, I did not follow a pattern.
Created this chevron tree.

Made up these shelled Christmas tree, which I did write a pattern for and can be found here.

I am also trying to improve my knitting skills by making these ornaments. I still feel I have a lot of work to do.

After opening our presents and having the Zoom family gathering, I finished up a blanket I was working on. I followed a pattern on a yarn label that I have since misplaced and just winged a border. Did find the pattern online.

I finished up the night by going out for a walk and looking at other people's lights, and, of course, writing up this blog post.

Overall, family and friends are having a safe holiday season and I hope you are too. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

  1. You made some beautiful items but the shelled ornament is what drew me here from the Create with Joy blog hop. What a great project!!

  2. My goodness, you have been busy! Thanks for taking the time to join us at Handmade Monday :-) Christmas was so different this year, I'm glad you were able to find some joyful bits. I'm describing our Christmas as pleasant as that seems the best adjective! Not awesome or amazing by any means but it was pleasant.
