Plarn Flying Disc

 Welcome to August's Pinterest Challenge! The purpose of this Pinterest Challenge is to motivate us to not just pin, but to make it happen!

This month's challenge is to do an upcycle project. 


I made a flying disc or a Frisbee using plarn. This Pinterest link shows how to make plarn is found here.

In essence, you are cutting off the ends.
Laying out the bag so it is a long tube..
Cutting it in strips, but not going all the way through.
Cut through diagonally to create one long strip.


To make the flying disc..
I used a 6 mm hook or J hook
Chain 4 and join to make a ring.
6 single crochet in the ring
Working in continuous rounds.
Row 1: 2 single crochet in each stitch
Row 2: 2 single crochet in the first stitch, 1 single crochet in the next stitch
Row 3: 2 single crochet in the first stitch, 1 single crochet in the next 2 stitches
Row 4: 2 single crochet in the first stitch, 1 single crochet in the next 3 stitches
Row 5: 2 single crochet in the first stitch, 1 single crochet in the next 4 stitches
Row 6: 2 single crochet in the first stitch, 1 single crochet in the next 5 stitches
Row 7: 2 single crochet in the first stitch, 1 single crochet in the next 6 stitches
Row 8: 2 single crochet in the first stitch, 1 single crochet in the next 7 stitches
Row 9: 2 single crochet in the first stitch, 1 single crochet in the next 8 stitches
Row 10: 2 single crochet in the first stitch, 1 single crochet in the next 9 stitches
Row 11: 2 single crochet in the first stitch, 1 single crochet in the next 10 stitches
Row 12: single crochet in every stitch
Row 13-15 single crochet 2 together in the first stitch, single crochet in the next three stitches.

Finish off.

    Cute idea - I imagine this will last a long time and a great way to recycle plastic bags!

    This is such a great idea! And a terrific way to take this challenge. When we thing of upcycling, not many of use consider the plastic bags our items from the thrift store came in so I think this is just fantastic!

    What a great way to use some old plastic bags. Especially vibrant coloured ones.
    We do have some biodegradable ones here which turn to confetti after a few years (I'm sure everyone has pulled something out of the attic not realising the kind of bag it was and covered themselves in a weird sort of confetti/ash/dust!!) As long as it's not one of those bags this would work brilliantly. Thanks for the pattern.

    I have never heard of the term plarn but it is a great way to recycle all these bags we have around the house. This project is a great idea.

    I love that this project uses plastic bags. Our state has stopped using them, but I still have a few tucked away. Great project!

    This is a great way to reuse plastic bags! I've never crocheted with plarn before, but I want to try it one day! I have a stash of plastic bags in my garage.

    This is a very unique upcycle project! I've never heard of plarn before. Great idea for using those grocery bags that accumulate too fast in our household!
