I have another fidget toy to add to my list of projects. It is a fidget ball. I recently discovered the ridged effect of doing half-double crochets in the third loop behind the back loop.
To make this ball you will need:
Size 4-5 weight yarn - feel free to experiment with different yarns
Size g hook - you can experiment with different hooks according to yarn size.
scissors
yarn needle
a little bit of stuffing
Work in continuous rounds
round 1: 6 sc into a magic ring
round 2: 2 hdc in every stitch (12)
round 3: working in the third loop (see video for reference) *2 hdc in the next stitch, hdc in the next stitch* around (18)
round 4: still working in the 3rd loop and for the rest of the project *2 hdc in the next stitch, hdc in the next 2 stitches* around (24)
round 5-6: hdc evenly around (24)
round 7: * hdc 2 tog in the next 2 stitches, hdc in the next 2 stitches* around (18)
round 8: * hdc 2 tog in the next 2 stitches, hdc in the next stitch* around (12)
For the last round, you could either continue working in the third loop or work through the front loops to not have a ridge to give a spot to put your thumb in.
round 9: sc 2tog around (6) finish off
Here is the video tutorial:
