Christmas Tree

When I saw this Christmas Tree in blog land, I knew I had to make one.  The free pattern in here, but I varied my using single crochet instead of half double crochet. I do like how it turned out and I hope my recipients will enjoy these trees as a Christmas gift.

This is how I made my trees, I used a G hook and worsted type yarn. gauge is not that important and can play around with different types of yarns. I would like to try this out using an eyelash yarn.

Starting with the tree
Chain 2,
Working in continuous rounds and in the back loops,
R1: make 6 sc crochet stitches in second chain from hook. {6}
R2: *make 2 sc's in first st, 1 sc in next st* {9}
R3:  and all odd rows up to row 23, sc around
R4: *make 2 sc's in first st, 1 sc in next 2 st's* {12}
R6: *make 2 sc's in first st, 1 sc in next 3 st's* {15}
R8: *make 2 sc's in first st, 1 sc in next 4 st's* {18}
R10: *make 2 sc's in first st, 1 sc in next 5 st's* {21}
R12: *make 2 sc's in first st, 1 sc in next 6 st's* {24}
R16: *make 2 sc's in first st, 1 sc in next 7 st's*  {27}
R18: *make 2 sc's in first st, 1 sc in next 8 st's* {30}
R20: *make 2 sc's in first st,  1 sc in next 9 st's* {33}
R22: *make 2 sc's in first st, 1 sc in next 10 st's* {36}
Fasten off.

Make the base:

Chain 2,
Working in continuous rounds,
R1: make 6 sc crochet stitches in second chain from hook. {6}
R2: *make 2 sc's in ea st around* {12}
R3: *make 2 sc's in first st, 1 sc in next st* {18}
R4: *make 2 sc's in first st, 1 sc in next 2 st's* {24}
R5: *make 2 sc's in first st, 1 sc in next 3 st's* {30}
R6: *make 2 sc's in first st, 1 sc in next 4 st's* {36}
R7: Sc evenly around. Finish off

Start sewing the parts together, when you are almost done, fill it with the polyester batting and finish sewing.
I sewed the two layer together using single crochet.

  6. These are sooo cute! I book-marked the pattern and will return to it during the cold, gray days of January. My son is 9 and adores Christmas decorations, although we do not have many due to multiple moves, the ones we do have are special!
