Windmill Afghan

Back in 2010 I published my Crocheted Windmill Dishcloth.  Well, in August someone asked if this dishcloth could be made into an afghan. So now I am taking on the challenge of making the windmill dishcloth into a windmill afghan. I have 2 "wedges" done so far. I am also experimenting with adding a shell stitch in the "fin" section. I am using scrap yarn to make my prototype of this afghan.

I am liking how this is turning out so far. I think it will be a decent sized lapghan or baby afghan when I am done. Hopefully six wedges will perfectly line up line up to complete the project.

I can share what I have so far for the pattern:

With worsted weight cotton yarn and size G hook, chain 101.
Row 1: sc in second chain from hook, sc across - 100 sc, turn
Row 2: ch 1, sc in the next 30 sc, 2 sc in next sc, sc in the next 67 sc, sc 2 tog over next 2 sc, turn
Row 3: ch 1, sc 2 tog over next 2 sc, sc in the next 67 sc, 2 sc in next sc, sc in the next 30 sc, turn
Row 4-29: repeat rows 2 and 3
Row 30: repeat row 2
Row 31: ch1,sc 2 tog over next 2 sc, sc in the next 37 sc, 2 sc in next sc, sc in the next 30 sc, turn
Row 32: ch 1, sc in the next 30 sc, 2 sc in next sc, sc in the next 37 sc, sc 2 tog over next 2 sc, turn
Row 33-59: repeat rows 31 and 32
Row 60: repeat row 32
Finishing wedge: without turning , now do 60 sc along edge of wedge back toward center, turn

Starting next wedge,
ch1, sc in next 20 sc, turn
Row 1: sc 2 tog over next 2 sc, sc in the next 67 sc, 2 sc in next sc, sc in the next 30 sc, turn

Repeat rows 2-60 like before.

Then repeat 4 more times to complete 6 "wedges" Sew up the seam in the center part of the windmill to complete the circle.

So I have completely finished the afghan yet, in theory, six wedges will meat up to complete the circle to complete the circle.

I also still have to write up a pattern for the shell option for the afghan.

I wanted to at least what I have for a pattern in case anyone wanted to get started on trying it out.

Happy crocheting!
