Knitted Basket Weave Hat

As we approach a new year, I always consider the future of my blogs and what I want to accomplish only to fall short on what I want to do.  Do the next plan I want to do is to be more like a diary of my projects no just share photos, but other information like the yarn , needle/ hook size, the pattern, ect.
I am starting out with this hat.  This is knitted project done in a basket weave pattern.
The yarn: Red Hear Super Saver in black
Needles: Size 10 double pointed (DP) needles.
The pattern: It is my own creation.
Cast on 72 stitches, dividing 24 stitches over 3 DP  needles
[Work a knit 4, purl 4 pattern for 5 rounds
Knit 1 round
Work a purl 4, knit 4 pattern for 5 rounds

Start decreasing

2: knit 4,purl 2 together, purl 2 around
3: knit 4, purl 3 around
4: knit 4, purl 2 together, purl 1 around

11: purl 2, knit 1 around
12: knit 2 together, knit 1
13: knit around
14: knit 2 together around

Cut off a tail long enough to sew through the loops to cinch off the top and finish off the ends.

The hat does fit me and it worked out for me. If you have to adjust the number of stitches to start out with, just keep it a number dividable by 8.

That is it, hope everyone has a happy new year. I hope to continue my diary series for the upcoming year.
