Everyday Granny Market Bag

I am obsessed with this bag. I made this bag with wool yarn so I could felt it. I like how this turned out. However, I am going to recommend cotton or cotton blend yarn. This is your bag; use whatever yarn you would like. It might look nice in t-shirt yarn.

Row 7: ch 2, BPDC around each dc. Join with the first dc.

Round 8: slip stitch in next 2 dc, ch 2 (3 dc in front of the next stitch, skip 3 dc)  34 times

Repeat round 8 until desired height.

Make the handles.

Once you have the desired height, ch 1, sc in each stitch around

Mark where you want the handles. There are 34 total of 3 dc clusters. 10 dc clusters make up the long side, with 7 dc clusters on the short sides;  Place 4 stitch markers where you want the handles. I have 6 clusters between where the handles are going to be.

At this point, we are working in continuous rounds. I had to sc the first 5 sc to place one of the handle markers, this could be different for you. You could finish off on the sc row, place markers where you want the handles and start the handle rows on either side of the bag.
The end of the round was before the handle marker.

SC until the first marker; now mark the last sc made. ch 75, sc in the stitch after the marker, mark this stitch.
Repeat to complete the second handle.

sc to one stitch before the maker, sc 3tog the next 2 sc and the first ch of the handle, mark this stitch.

sc in each chain of the handle until one before the marker. sc3tog last ch, and next 2 sc. Mark this stitch. Repeat for the other side of the handle.

[sc to one stitch before the marker, sc3tog] repeat 3 more times for a round.  Repeat this round 2 more times.

Finish off: With the tail of the yarn, skip the next stitch, insert the needle through the front of both loops of the next stitch, insert the needle in the back loop of the last stitch made, then draw the needle through the back loop of the skipped stitch.
