This pumpkin pattern is similar to my Basic Pumpkin Pattern, but uses the same stitch as the Candy Stitch Dishcloth.
Special stitch:
Candy Stitch (CS): Insert the hook in the stitch just made and draw up a loop; insert the hook in the next stitch and draw up a loop, yarn over, and draw through all 3 loops.
Materials
You can use any yarn and hook size. I would love to try this with bulky blanket yarn.
scissors
yarn needle
stuffing
Make the stem
Chain about 10; it depends on the size of the stem you want. Also leave a long enough tail to sew into the pumpkin
Row 1: slip stitch in the second chain from the hook and in each stitch across, ch 1 and turn
Row 2: insert in the back loop of the slip stitch AND in the free loop in the foundation row, draw up a loop (special slip stitch made); repeat across. ch 1 turn
Row 3: Insert in the back loop of the slip stitch AND in the free loop in row 1, draw up a loop (special slip stitch made); repeat across. Finish off,
Make the Pumpkin
Ch 16
Row 1: sc in the second chain from the hook. CS (see special stitches) in the remaining chains, ch 1 and turn
Row 2-30: sc in the back loop in the first sc, CS in the back loop of the remaining stitches
After row 30, finish off and leave a long enough tail to sew up the side.
Finishing up the pumpkin
Sew up Row 1 to Row 30 to create a tube. On one end of the tube, thread the yarn tail through the ends and cinch the bottom. Make sure it is secure,
Stuff the Pumpkin, place the stem in the center, thread yarn through the top ends of the pumpkin and alternately through the stem to close the top.
