Chunky Blue Hat With Ladder Hat Pattern

This is another hat for the #HatnotHate campaign. This is actually my third hat. I had posted my second hat on Instagram. More about that hat in a later post. I plan to a pattern for that crocheted hat.
Speaking of patterns, let me share with you the pattern for this hat. The yarn for this hat Country Loom by Loops and Threads. I got this yarn on clearance for I am not sure how my longer this yarn would be available. It is a super bulky yarn (number 6), so any bulky yarn would work.
I used a size 10 double pointed needles (DP)
Cast on 60
I put 20 stitches on three DP needles
Row 1: purl 4, knit 1 around
Row 2: knit

Repeat row 1 and 2 for about 6 inches, ending with row 1 when you are ready to start the decrease.

Decrease
Row 1: *knit 8, knit 2tog* around
Row 2: *purl 4, knit 1, purl 3, knit 1* around
Row 3: *knit 7, knit 2tog* around
Row 4: *purl 4, knit 1, purl 2, knit 1* around
Row 5: *knit 6, knit 2tog* around
Row 6: *purl 4, knit 1, purl 1, knit 1* around
Row 7: *knit 5, knit 2tog* around
Row 8: *purl 4, knit 2* around
Row 9: *knit 4, knit 2tog* around
Row 10: *purl 4, knit 1* around
Row 11: *knit 3, knit 2tog* around
Row 12: *purl 3, knit 1* around
Row 13: *knit 2, knit 2tog* around
Row 14: *purl 2, knit 1* around
Row 15: *knit 1, knit 2tog* around
Row 16: *purl 1, knit 1* around
Row 17: *knit 2 tog* around
Cut of a long enough tail finish off by running the tail through the loops to close up the top.
This is what the top looks like.

Now lets go back to the first hat is this #hatnothate series.
It is same pattern except it is worsted weight (Red Heart Super Saver, I think), I used a size 8 DP needles and I casted on 80 stitches.

How I decreased the top is different.
I intended to decrease like the chunky yarn hat, but I made a mistake and adapted. However it turns out I like this top better. So I will write out how I did this decrease.
