Single Ribbed (or stocking) Hat Tutorial with Video

Summer is nearly over and it is time to make to soon make some scarves, mittens, and hats.  Here I have a new hat tutorial and it will also include a video. You may of noticed that my hat is blue. That means this hat will go to #hatnothate.

I started to talk about this hat in one of my other videos. After trying to describe the hat, I knew I had to make a video about the hat.

Materials:

Size 3 weight yarn

Size G hook

My hat measured 6 inches across after row 7. If you want a smaller hat, you can stop after row 5.

Make 12 dc in a magic ring join with the first dc

Round 1: ch 2, dc in first dc, FPDC in the same dc* dc in the next dc, FPDC around the same dc* repeat around. join with the first dc

Round 2: ch 2, dc in the first dc, BPDC in the same dc. FPDC around the next FPDC *dc in the next dc, BPDC in the same dc. FPDC around the next FPDC * repeat around. join with the first dc

Round 3: ch 2, dc in first dc, FPDC around the same dc, BPDC around the next BPDC, FPDC around the next FPDC* dc in the next dc, FPDC around the same dc, BPDC in the next BPDC, FPDC around the next FPDC*repeat around. join with the first dc

Round 4: ch 2, dc in the first dc, BPDC in the same dc. FPDC around the next FPDC, BPDC around the next BPDC, FPDC around the next FPDC *dc in the next dc, BPDC in the same dc. FPDC around the next FPDC, BPDC around the next BPDC, FPDC around the next FPDC *  repeat around. join with the first dc

Round 5: ch 2, dc in first dc, FPDC in the same dc [BPDC around the next BPDC, FPDC around the next FPDC]twice * dc in the next dc, FPDC around the same dc, [BPDC around the next BPDC, FPDC around the next FPDC]twice * repeat around. join with the first dc

Round 6: ch 2, dc in first dc, BPDC in the same dc [FPDC around the next FPDC, BPDC around the next BPDC]twice, FPDC in the next FPDC* dc in the next dc, BPDC in the same dc [FPDC around the next FPDC, BPDC around the next BPDC]twice, FPDC in the next FPDC* repeat around. join with the first dc

Round 7: ch 2, dc in first dc, FPDC in the same dc [BPDC around the next BPDC, FPDC around the next FPDC]three times * dc in the next dc, FPDC around the same dc, [BPDC around the next BPDC, FPDC around the next FPDC]three times * repeat around. join with the first dc

Work even around: ch 2, *BPDC in the first BPDC, FPDC in the Next FPDC around. Repeat this round until you have the desired length. I finished off with a row of HDC around the edge in a size F hook.

Here is the video for the hat.
