Today I am showing off a couple of ruffled scarfs I did this past week. I wrote this pattern back in 2011.
This pattern will give the ruffled scarf look without buying the ruffled novelty yarn.

Edit Oct 13, 2017: I am excited to see that this is my most popular pattern to date. I was inspired to make this after seeing a vintage knitted slipper pattern. Many people have asked how to change the size of this pattern. I have not experimented with this pattern enough to truly know the answer, except try different yarn types, hooks sizes, and experimenting the amount of dc's in row 1. Speaking of row 1, if you know how to do the magic ring, you can do that instead of putting 14 dc into a single chain. Donut Fidget Toy

This project was inspired by my most popular crochet tutorial on YouTube , my Mobius Fidget Toy. Materials: worsted weight yarn, size 4 size g hook or any yarn and hook size you would like as a donut. scissors yarn needle stuffing of your choosing - the green donut in the picture has a marble in it. - I have used leftover yarn scraps and have used small pieces of plastic grocery bags - of course, you can use Polyfil.
