Pink Granny Square Blanket

I guess this really is not a traditional granny square blanket. The pattern for the flowered square came out of a vintage magazine. The circle square is a pattern of my design that I will share with you.

12 dc in a magic ring, join,
Now make 2 dc in each dc, join
*Dc in the next 3 dc, chain 3*, repeat 7 more times, join and finish off because you want to change to a new color. That way your circle design will stand out.
Join new color in a chain 3 space and make *3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in that space, ch 2, 3 dc in the next space, chain 2 * repeat this pattern 3 more times, join.
The last row is like a tradition granny square. *3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in a corner space, ch 2, [3 dc in the next space, chain 2 ] repeat bracket one more time* repeat this 3 more times. Finish off.
So you make of noticed that I don't sew my squares together. I join them to a square when making the final row. To do this, instead of making the ch 2 space between 3 dc groups, I would chain 1, slip stitch in the chain 2 space to the square I want to join, ch 1. (clear as mud) This is what I usually do for granny squares.

After the squares are done, I did a granny square pattern around the edge, followed by my favorite edging I do on many of my projects. That pattern can be found here.
