Sunny Yellow Hat and Beach Bag

Welcome to June's Pinterest Challenge! The purpose of this Pinterest Challenge is to motivate us to not just pin, but to make it happen!

This month's challenge is to do a Summer project.

I started out making this bag.   I already have done a bag for my first Pinterest challenge back in April.  I did finish the bag. It is smaller that a typical beach bag, but it will hold a beach towel and snacks. I wanted to make a small pocket for it for a smart phone, but I ran out of yarn.  However, I did decide to switch gears and make a yellow hat. I decided to do this after making one for my Barbie doll.

This hat features the 3 single crochet small shell I use in my socks (Small Shell Socks (treasuresmadefromyarn.com) and Toe Up Small Shell Sock Pattern (treasuresmadefromyarn.com)

I also made fingerless gloves using this stitch (Small Shell Fingerless Gloves (treasuresmadefromyarn.com))

I totally winged it making this hat. It was a little difficult working in the increases in the hat and brim. Overall it worked out. To be honest, I haven't made too many sun hats. I don't normally wear them.

Maybe in the future I will have a pattern for this hat.

  5. If you do manage a pattern I'd love to see it. A hat like this that will just squish into a bag or case is so practical for holidays. This colour is just fabulous :-)

  6. That hat is really cute! I started wearing floppy hats like this in the sun just the last couple of years as I am starting to notice more sun spots as I age.
