I have to admit, it has been a bear to edit this video because it is long and I also chat about other stuff going on in my life. I edited quite a bit of the chat and I hope I left the bones of the video, which is the tutorial.
I did not know what to call this pattern stitch, so I called it an open shell because it had a 5 dc shell and a [3dc, ch3, 3 dc] shell in the pattern.
To start out make a chain dividable by 6 plus 4. In the video, I chained 40.
Row 1: 2 dc in the 4th chain from hook, *chain 4, skip 5 chains, 5 dc in the next chain* repeat until the last 6 stitches. Skip 5 chains, 3 dc in the last chain. turn
Row 2: ch 2, [3 dc, ch3, 3 dc] in each chain 4 space across, dc on top of turning chain.
Row 3:chain 6, *5 dc in chain 3 space, chain 4* repeat in each chain 3 spaces, end with a chain 1 and double treble crochet (yarn over 3 times, yarn over a draw up a loop, yarn over and draw through 2 loops 4 times) on top ch 2 turning chain.
Row 4: chain 5, 3 dc in chain 1 space, [3 dc, ch3, 3 dc] in each chain 4 space across, end with 3 dc, ch 1, double treble crochet in chain 6 space.
Row 5: chain 3, 2 dc in ch 1 space, *chain 4, skip 5 chains, 5 dc in the chain 3 space* across ending with chain 4, 3 dc in chain 5 space from the beginning
Repeat rows 2 - 5 until you have the desired length ending in row 2, or end at row 5 and do the final row.
Final row: ch 2, [3 dc, ch3, slip stitch with first chain (picot made), 3 dc] in each chain 4 space across, dc on top of turning chain.
So I won't have the final project done by the time the video comes out. Stay tuned for an update.
